The Journal of Iranian Dental Association (JIDA) upholds a comprehensive and confidential manuscript submission and review process, emphasizing academic excellence and integrity. Upon submission via the journal's online platform, manuscripts undergo a preliminary technical evaluation by editorial assistants to ensure compliance with formatting guidelines, ethical standards, submission requirements, and to screen for plagiarism and duplicate submissions. Manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria are promptly returned to authors for revision.

Following this, the Editor-in-Chief performs an initial evaluation of the manuscript's title and abstract to determine its relevance and alignment with the journal's aims and scope. Manuscripts deemed suitable are assigned to editors with expertise in the subject matter. Those that lack sufficient quality or fall outside the journal's scope are expeditiously rejected. Submissions that meet these standards proceed to a rigorous peer-review process.

During the peer-review stage, each manuscript is evaluated by 2-3 independent, anonymous experts selected based on their expertise. Reviewers critically assess the manuscript’s originality, scientific merit, and contribution to the field, providing detailed feedback and recommendations, such as acceptance without changes, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection. Throughout this process, a double-blind review protocol is maintained to ensure the anonymity of both authors and reviewers.

After the peer-review process, the Editorial Board deliberates on the reviewers’ recommendations to reach a final decision. The corresponding author is formally notified of the editorial decision via email, which may include acceptance, rejection, or requests for revisions to improve the manuscript’s quality and clarity. Authors are required to address all reviewer concerns comprehensively; failure to do so may result in rejection, regardless of favorable individual feedback.

Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue, in accordance with the journal's editorial priorities and publication timeline. This thorough and meticulously designed process exemplifies JIDA’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor in dental research.
