The Journal of Iranian Dental Association welcomes submissions that contribute meaningfully to the advancement of dental science, clinical practice, education, and professional development. These guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing manuscripts that meet the journal’s standards for clarity, rigor, and relevance.
Manuscript Types and Scope
JIDA accepts a range of manuscript types, including original research articles, clinical case reports, reviews, commentaries, letters to the editor, and professional opinion pieces. All submissions should be relevant to the dental profession and demonstrate originality, scientific integrity, and practical value.
Writing Style and Structure
Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise, and professional English. Authors are encouraged to use a scholarly tone while remaining accessible to a broad readership. Avoid excessive jargon and ensure that technical terms are defined when necessary. Use active voice and organize content logically, with appropriate headings and subheadings to guide the reader.
Formatting Requirements
Submissions should be typed in a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt), double-spaced, and formatted with 2.5 cm margins. Include page numbers and line numbers for ease of review. Manuscripts should typically include the following sections, depending on the type of article:
- Title Page (with author names, affiliations, and contact details)
- Abstract (structured with appropriate subheadings)
- Keywords (3–6 relevant terms)
- Main Text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion)
- References (formatted in Vancouver style)
- Tables and Figures (with captions and source notes)
References and Citations
All references must be cited in-text using numerical superscripts and listed at the end of the manuscript in Vancouver style. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all citations. Use recent and relevant sources to support claims and contextualize findings.
Ethical Considerations
Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research and publication. This includes obtaining informed consent for patient-related content, securing ethical approval for studies involving human subjects, and disclosing any conflicts of interest. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited.
Submission Process
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the JIDA submission portal. Include a cover letter briefly describing the manuscript’s purpose, originality, and relevance to JIDA’s readership. Authors should also submit a brief biography and declare any conflicts of interest.
Review and Publication
All submissions are subject to editorial review and, where appropriate, peer review. The editorial team may request revisions to improve clarity, accuracy, or alignment with journal standards. Accepted manuscripts will be copyedited and formatted prior to publication. Authors will receive proofs for final approval.
